Liposuction
Liposuction - can help some weight loss
patients achieve a more pleasing body contour by removing fat that
is resistant to diet and exercise. Liposuction is not a substitute
for diet and exercise, but it can be useful in removing stubborn
areas of fat left after weight loss.
In some cases, Dr. Corbin will remove fat via lipo
to help a patient achieve a better shape before or after he performs
body sculpting procedures like body lifts, thighplasty, buttocks
lifts and abdominoplasty. While a separate liposuction surgery is
an additional expense and surgery it may be worth it to some patients
so they may achieve the best cosmetic surgery result possible.
Liposuction surgery will not lift or tighten the
skin. If anything, by removing more fat from an area that has lax
skin it usually causes more sagging. If this is the case lipo is
most often done before a skin excision surgery. Although in some
cases where the skin is tighter, liposuction can be performed alone
or after another body contouring surgery to contour and remove extra
fat.
In areas where the skin tone is good and only a
small amount of fat and no skin needs to be removed lipo is a good
option. A few areas where lipo alone can be a good surgical option
are: the arms, chest and pubis areas. Also, sometimes following
an abdominoplasty some patients wish to contour the flanks to create
more of a waistline with liposuction. The treatments and cosmetic
surgeries that are best for you are based on your anatomy, your
expectations and sometimes your budget.

Body Sculpting
Liposuction General Information: liposuction
or liposculpture is a procedure to remove localized deposits of
fat from the body to improve body contour and shape. Using small
hollow metal tubes called cannulas fat is removed from areas of
excess via small incisions placed in inconspicuous locations that
literally heal without leaving a scar. With liposuction, fat that
is resistant to diet and exercise can be easily removed permanently
changing body contour. At your consultation those areas that would
benefit from liposculpture will be pointed out and the risks described.
Length of Surgery: 1 to 3 Hours
Location: Accredited Surgery Center or Hospital
Anesthesia: General or local with sedation
Recovery Time: The patient can usually return
to work a few days following surgery depending on the individual.
Exercise and strenuous activity may be done at 3 to 6 weeks following
surgery.
Post Operative Results: Each patient heals
differently; however following the surgery patients may experience
temporary pain, swelling, possible bruising, soreness and fatigue.
The incisions are minimal and will fade and flatten with time. It
has been our experience that patients are very happy with their
post op results and their new look.
Helpful Surgery Hints: Be in good mental
and physical health. Help improve healing by taking pre and postoperative
vitamins. Maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly and do not
smoke.
