Chest

Chest - Following major weight loss the appearance of a mans chest may be changed. Usually what occurs is a lot of loose hanging skin overlying the pectoralis major muscle or chest area causing an unattractive appearance to the chest. The extra skin can be removed in a similar surgery to a breast mastopexy. The different techniques used are based on each individuals needs.

In some male weight loss patients they do not have hanging skin, but they have residual fat and or breast tissue remaining on the chest which is referred to as gynecomastia. This condition can be surgically corrected with either liposuction to the chest area or excision of breast tissue.

Male Breast reduction and or Lift

Gynecomastia General Information: Gynecomastia is the enlargement of the breast in males. This can be due to actual breast tissue or fat. Whatever the cause this tissue is the source of embarrassment and occasional pain. It can be removed via liposuction alone or in combination with excision. Incisions are inconspicuous and patients can quickly return to work.

Male Breast Lift General Information: Male breast lift is performed when the appearance of the chest is aesthetically unappealing due to loose hanging skin and or tissue. The chest lift or mastopexy is a procedure to reshape the breast and create or restore a more pleasing youthful appearance The incision site varies depending on what needs to be accomplished. In some patients, the scars can be inconspicuously placed along the nipple areolars only. In more extreme cases where a lot of extra skin needs to be removed and the chest reshaped it may requite a combination of incisions depending on the degree of drooping or ptosis of the chest. For men with a relatively small amount of sag, a skin tightening procedure can be performed from the axillary area or armpit area to try and hide the scars. In extreme cases when there are massive amounts of skin, the hanging skin along the inframammary crease is cut away so that the chest and skin is flattened. Once a more pleasing chest contour is created nipples can be free grafted onto the chest area creating a more masculine and aesthetically pleasing look. Male incisions are easier to conceal, because they usually have hair on the nipples, chest and underarms where incisions are made. Dr. Corbin performs many types of lifts. The operation and or set of incisions that will give you the best overall appearance will be determined at the time of your personal consultation. Dr. Corbin’s surgical goal is to give his patients the best result with the least amount of scarring. As with any surgical procedure there are potential risk and complications that will be discussed at your consultation.
